Lucknow: Forty-six people have died in a separate-related incident including a lightning strike in the Uttar Pradesh section in 24 hours ending 6am on Monday, an official said.
Twenty-three people were also injured in the incident of a lightning strike, he said.
While 42 people were killed after being hit by lightning, three sinks and one gave up on Snakebite, a senior official of the Office of the Relief Commissioner said on Monday.
At the age of 14, Prasagraj reported the highest number of deaths due to lightning strikes, followed by five of each at Kanpur Dehat and Fatehpur, respectively in Firozabad and Kaushambi, two in Chitrakoot, Unnao, Hamirpur and Sonbhadra, and one in Kanpur, Mirzapur, Hardoi and Banda, he said.
Three people drowned in Ghazipur, Firozabad and Ballia while someone died of snakebite at Fatehpur, he added.
According to officials, Snakebites included in the incident related to rain.
249 animals were also killed in lightning strikes in the state, the official said.
According to the Ministry of India Meteorology, rainfall is recorded in Kannaja, Prasagraj, Jalaun, Siddharthnagar, Shraverti, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Agra, Maharajanj, Balrampur, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Hamirpur and Shahjahanpur above.
Rain or lumps of drawers are very possible in places isolated on the state on Tuesday and Wednesday and in several places in the state on Thursday, he said.
