Pune: Covishield accounts for 91% of a total of 52 doses of lakh managed in Pune District until July 11.
Report of the District Health Office (DHO) revealed that 47.80 lakh covishield, 4.27 lakh covaxin, and 4.781 sputnik v doses were given in the district until July 11.
Of the 47.80 doses of lakh covishield, as many as 38.15 lakh was the first dose, while 9.65 lakh was a booster shot, the report stated.
In front of Covaxin, 2.54 lakh was the first dose while 1.72 lakh was a booster shot.
The report also shows that the age group of 18-44 has the highest number of covishield recipients, with 16.06 lakh get the first dose and 9.557 get a booster shot.
Sanjay Deshmukh, Assistant Director (Medical), Pune Circle, told Tii, “Because the report shows, there is a big gap between the first dose and both covishield.
This will make many backlogs in the coming days.
Therefore, we have notified Pune-city companies and Pimpri Chinchwad, as well as rural Pune administration, to accelerate the second dose vaccination.
“According to Deshmukh, because Covaxin has limited supplies, it will not have many problems that include the second dose recipient.
The health department official said on Monday night, the district received a supply of 45,450 covishield doses, where 19,500 doses were given to Pune Rural, 15,900 distributed to PMC, and 10,050 given to PCMC.
PMC will offer covishield for all eligible age groups in 71 centers and Covaxin in six central on Tuesday.
While PCMC will only offer covaxin in four centers.
