Letter: The groom in Navsari and two family members were booked at the Vijalpore police station on Tuesday afternoon because they had invited more than 150 guests for a wedding ceremony.
Police said that they had received information that more than 150 people were present in the patil community hall in Vijalpore after they checked.
“When we reach, we find more than the number of guests who are permitted that don’t even maintain social distance and some of them without masks,” said a police officer.
After police intervention, many guests left the venue, a violation was registered at Groom Yogesh Patil and his uncle Narayan Patil and Dushyant Patil.
The police said that Narayan and Dushyant were detained immediately, while the groom would be detained later when his wedding ceremony was still delayed.
Recently, the state government has increased the lid to guests who are permitted for wedding ceremonies up to 150 because the country witnessed the trend of reducing the number of Covid-19 cases.
In Valsad District too, the police conducted a random inspection in Weddings held at the Narmada Bhawan wedding hall on Tuesday afternoon and fined two people of Rs 2,000 because they did not wear a mask.
