Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday arrested a consultant psychologist with the South Mumbai Hospital and his colleague for allegedly baking and selling Brownie Hashish and Opium cakes.
Based on ownership, the clinical psychologist Raided NCB Dr.
Rahmen Charaniya’s Mazgaon Residence and captured 10kg Brownies Hash, 320GM Opium and more than Rs 1.7 lakh.
He spilled beans at his accomplice, Ramzan Shaikh, who was arrested from the Crawford market area.
Nearly 50GM hashish found to him, officials said.
Dr.
Charaniya will source weeds and hashish from Sheikh and other local peddlers, officials said.
During interrogation, Dr.
Charaniya said that since NCB damaged the gang from Orlem last month, he got a lot of calls for brownie weed pot cakes.
He said he was accusing between Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh per kg of cakes and most of his clients were women, NCB officials said.
On June 12, the NCB stormed the bakery in Orlem, Malad, and arrested three people for allegedly baking and selling brownie weed pot cakes.
The police said it was confusing why Dr.
Charaniya, who pursued his PhD and came from a good family, would supply the infused brownies.
“Dr.
Charaniya, comes from the medical brotherhood, must know the impact of these drugs in children.
Swallowing Cannabis and Hashish is one of the strongest ways to abuse drugs and marijuana-based products.
The effect lasts for at least six hours,” said Sameer Wankhede, director of Zonal NCB.
The captured duo has been ordered under NDPS law.
