New Delhi: The Ministry of Health of the Union on Wednesday was fired as “alleged” and “speculation” several media reports claiming to be a higher Covid-19 death figure based on data from the Health Management Information System of the National Health Mission (HMIS).
There have been several speculative media reports that claim a higher mortality rate because Covid-19 is based on data from HMIS, the ministry said.
“‘Reports compare data from the Civil Registration System (CRS) and HMI to draw incorrect conclusions.
The report is suspected and speculation without a subtyle base,” said the ministry.
Quoting the mortality rate reported in HMIS, the ministry in a statement noted that media reports continue to say that “in the absence of other information, this death must all be considered a Covid-19 death”.
According to the media report itself “more than 2.50,000 deaths come from unknown causes,” he said.
Connecting every death to Covid-19 without base based on mistaken empirical data and such conclusions only promised imagination, the statement said.
The center, he noted, has been transparent in its approach to Covid data management and a strong record system of all deaths related to Covid-19 already exists.
All states and the United States have been entrusted with the responsibility for updating data in this particular system sustainably.
To avoid inconsistencies in the number of deaths reported, the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) has issued ‘guidance for the right recording of Covid-19-related deaths in India’ for the correct recording of all deaths according to the ICD-10 code recommended by the organization World Health (WHO) for mortality coding, the statement said.
Countries and UTS have been urged through various formal communications, several video conferences and through the spread of the central team for the correct recording of deaths in accordance with the specified guidelines.
The ministry has also regularly emphasized a strong reporting mechanism to monitor wise cases and deaths in everyday.
There will always be differences in mortality recorded during a deep and prolonged public health crisis such as covid pandemics and research studies carried out properly about mortality usually carried out after events when data on motority is available from reliable sources, the statement said.
Methodology for such established research, data sources are defined as a valid assumption for mortality computing, which is stated.
