Washington: United States, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan will create a new rectangular diplomatic group to promote the Afghan peace process, stability and trade in the region, the US State Department said on Friday.
In a press release, the State Department said, “US representatives, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan agreed in principle to form a four-fold diplomatic platform that focuses on increasing regional connectivity.” The State Department said that the parties considered peace and long-term stability in Afghanistan which was critical of regional connectivity and agreed that the connectivity of peace and regional regionally.
The parties see group formation as a means to increase regional trade, build new transit routes and strengthen business bonds.
“The parties have agreed to hold meetings in the coming months to discuss the details of their future cooperation, which is expected to be based on the shared consensus,” said his broadcast.
This development came when the security situation in Afghanistan had worsened after the withdrawal of US military forces from the country.
Drawdown is set to finish at the end of August.
When the Taliban continued to reach new areas, US officials had been involved in talks with neighboring countries Afghanistan to support Afghan defense forces.
