Hyderabad: The condition of the Hyderabad road will only increase if there is transparency and accountability, the word ‘doctor doctor’ Gangadhara Tilak Katnam who has spent around Crore from his pocket – for the past 11 years – to repair more than 2,000 holes in the entire city.

“The corporation fooled everyone by calling a tender for crores rupees when the job would not cost some lakh,” Katnam said added that the problem was not with a single company but with almost every corporation in the country all operated in the same way.
“Even when they have quality materials, which will last for about five years, available with them to fill in the hole, they use mud that doesn’t even last for 15 to 20 days.
They spend crores rupees but the road conditions remain the same,” 73 years to Tii.
Sharing his experience over the past decade or more, he said that several officials, along the road, offered him material so he could continue his good work even though some others tried to fear so that the tender could be called.
Retired Railway Eyfict says that if there are companies that are willing to divert one crore rupee to fill the hole for a year, it can show how much work can be achieved with the money.
“The same thing can be replicated by other companies,” Katnam said.
Of course, his family too, worried about ‘mission’ at first.
Considering that filling the cost of a hole anywhere between Rs 1,000 and Rs 10,000 – depending on the size – he remembers how they think filling the hole is the expensive addiction taken by Katnam.
But soon they realized that, in the process, he saved life through this ‘silent war’.
In addition to filling the hole, retired employees also cleanse water stagnant from the road because it can cause damage to the path.
“My war opposed laziness, selfishness and corruption,” Katnam said, who along with his wife Venkateswari was detained by Governor Telangana, Tamilisai Soundararajan, on Thursday.
He said that many were lazy and the idea of doing something for their society or the surroundings did not even crossed their minds.
“I don’t want to preach something, but want to show them what one person can achieve through my work,” he added.
