Hyderabad: Although some advisors about vaccination are the only effective tool against Covid-19, there are still levels of doubt among people, especially in rural areas, Telangana health officials said.
And a slowdown in vaccination drive, over the past few days, partly rooted in this reason together with the lack of doses, they added.
Previously, the country provided around 1.75 lakh doses every day.
This number now slips between 1.4 lakh and 1.5 lakh dose per day.
According to officials, while most vaccination centers in urban areas have decent voters, in rural areas that still have to be persuaded to step out for Jab.
“People here still have worries about what will happen after they take Jab.
Health workers must visit their homes and educate them about the importance of vaccines to ensure they appear in vaccination centers,” said Dr.
Swarajya Lakhsmi, District Medical Health Officer, Rangeddy.
In one case, for example, 200 people took a picture of a vaccine at the Primary Health Center of Keshampet (PHC) only after being sensitive by officials.
On average, PHCs manages around 100 doses every day.
Within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, officials say they sometimes have to send their staff to houses to convince them about taking the Covid-19 vaccine.
“We want to make sure that before other waves hit us, everyone is vaccinated.
That’s the only way we can limit mortality,” said a health department official.
Another problem: lack of vaccines in government centers.
“Previously, the centers received stock for a week.
But now there is a daily inventory depending on the second number of doses in a certain area,” said an official.
At present, there is no government center that offers the first dose of Covaxin.
This is only available scheduled for their second dose.
The country has even stopped the drive vaccine on Wednesday and Sunday.
But not only the government center, the number of vaccinations in private hospitals is also declining.
“It could be because the relaxed attitude kicks among people, after swimming in the Covid-19 case.
Also, the government hospital offers a free vaccine to people from all age groups now.
Maybe it’s also why people don’t appear in private hospitals , “said Amit Adilabadkar, Chief Brand Officer of Kims Hospitals.
