Chennai: Candidates that apply to other backward class certificates in TN do not need to worry about the criteria of the cream layer because the state government has directed income and collectors to issue certificates without insisting on income details.

Order July 5 states that salary and agriculture income does not need to be taken into account when calculating the annual income ceiling of Rs 8 lakh for parents of the non-cream layer category.
The order, however, does not cover six categories, including people who occupy the post of constitutional and professional services and categories identified by the center in 1993.
