Long blackouts in sector 9a due to heavy rain, say residents

Gurgaon: Sector 9A residents have faced power outages from 5 am on Monday after heavy rain.
They said discom officials could only recover some of the power supply at around 11:30 a.m., some households were still without electricity on Tuesday.
Without electricity, the water supply has also been affected in the area, said residents, accusing no response to repetitive calls to the DHBVN toll-free number.
“The situation is very sad because there is no electricity since 5am, Monday.
There is no drinking water supply while our house is flooded with rain.
We are a senior citizen and living alone without power and water supply is very difficult to manage,” said Naresh Kumar, a resident.
Residents alleged that DHBVN failed to cut tree branches before the onset of monsoon and branches overgrown fell on the power line during storm, causing a power outage.
Sukhdev Singh, who lives in this sector, said: “It’s been 36 hours and some houses are still without electricity.
Toll-free numbers are still busy throughout the day while calls to officials missed.” Meanwhile, the residents of Zara Aavaas in Sector 104 protested against the diskomy And blocking traffic movements at Daultabad Flyover on Monday night after facing more than one blackout day.
Hemant Sharma, a resident, said, “There was no power from 3am on Monday to around 5am on Tuesday morning.
There are some blackouts after that too.
The family of 600 lives in the community.” When contacted, Superintending Engineer DHBVN Manoj Yadav said, “There is an error in the electric channel disk in three locations.
The power supply in most areas is restored on Monday night.”
