Chicago: Drive-by shooting in Chicago injured eight people who have driven a party bus, one of the few shootings in the city that killed at least three people on the same day, police said.
Bulk shooting took place at the end of Wednesday at Lincoln Park on the north side of the city when one or more people in the SUV opened fire on the group, police said.
It came in the midst of efforts to curb rising weapons violence in the city and around the US, including the new gun strike forces in Chicago and four other cities.
After shooting the party bus, a man was hospitalized in a critical condition with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said, while other men and women were injured in good condition, fair or serious.
No arrest reported and the police did not immediately say what might cause shooting.
Previously at night, Drive-by photo shoots on the west side near the left of two dead men.
The men stood outside in the West City when someone in the SUV fired a shot on them.
No one was immediately detained.
Ten other people were shot, one fatal, in two mass shootings in blocks and minutes with one another Wednesday night in North Lawndale on the west side of Chicago, police said.
A 14-year-old boy died after being shot in his head in one shooting, who also injured four other teenagers, including a 16-year-old child who was in a tomb, police said.
The second photo shoot about the same time injured five people, including a 18-year-old man who was in critical condition and a 14-year-old boy who was in good condition.
Chicago Police Deputy Chief Ernest Cato visited the second shooting site and requested public assistance in investigating attacks.
“We will need an all-hands-on-deck approach, and that approach will involve …
our community is involved, and say what happened,” he said.
“Our community has a cellphone image, which has Facebook information.
We will need your help.” On Monday, the Chicago Police Department announced a new team of officers, prosecutors and federal agents who would target weapons trade as part of anti-violent efforts.
It follows another bloody weekend which ends with more than 60 people shot, including 10 fatal.
