Chennai: After a four-month gap, the Government of Tamil Nadu on Saturday reopened more than 6,000 public libraries considering the Covid-19 falling case in the state.
“Maintaining student interest in preparing for competitive exams and other readers, libraries will be reopened throughout the country, except in the detention zone, by following the standard operating procedure of Covid-19 (SOP),” A view of S Nagaraja Murugan, Director (incharge) Public Library , say.
SOP forbade people over 65 years to under 15 years from using the Public Library considering the Covid-19 pandemic.
As per guideline, the library staff must clean the chair, table and book used by the reader with disinfectants before closing the library for that day.
Readers with masks alone must be allowed to enter the library.
The airconditioner should not be used in the library.
The staff temperature and readers must be checked before allowing them to enter the library.
Book loan books must wear gloves.
Staff must also display books that are popular among readers, the word guidelines.
Furthermore asked them to reduce the number of seats in their own reading book, competitive exam and reference book section.
Preferences must be given on the basis of the first service coming.
Books and laptops used by readers in their own book section should not be allowed to share with other members or to bring them to other parts, the manual said.
