Bhubaneswar: The State Agriculture Department has decided to promote a naughty cultivation, processing and adding value in mission mode after a discussion at a recent high-level meeting attended by senior officials.
“It was decided that the Local Elite Landrace of Jackfruit which has the desired quality for raw consumption and the production of value-added products will be identified by the Horticulture Directorate to meet market needs,” the official source said.
The meeting chaired by the Development Commissioner P K Jena and Agricultural Production Commissioner R K Sharma decided to encourage jackfruit plantations grafted to reduce the period of pregnancy after quality graft produced on horticultural farming.
The state government will also be an expert advisory committee to create a resource and knowledge base to promote jackfruit cultivation and marketing of jackfruit products.
Experts from the National Institute and Naughty Mission Kerala are likely to be included in the Committee.
Because the state government does not have certain data, agricultural promotion companies and Odisha Limited investment (APICOL) have been asked to issue status reports about naughty cultivation, marketing, processing, value chains and potential in Odisha.
“APICOL will also hold entrepreneurship developments to meet jackfruit processing to promote entrepreneurship.
Ouat will also be involved in the process,” said an official, which is part of the meeting.
The Ministry of Agriculture has been asked to coordinate with the MSME department for the identification and promotion of entrepreneurs for investment in the industrial processing industry in the state.
