Ponon: With the receding flood, the work of Opa Water managed to get three of the five processing plants that were not repaired by Saturday afternoon.
The water supply to Tiswadi Taluka, including the GMC and defense company in Bambolim, was returned soon after.
Supply to Ponda Taluka, however, remains delayed because the motorbike running a 55mld plant pump cannot be repaired.
Water division officials said they were working on an alternative plan to continue the water supply to Taluka.
The entire complex of water treatment was closed on Friday night after the level of the Khandeli river rises above the pump station, encouraging all pumps and 33kva sub-stations that shocked plants.
Nivruti Parsekar, an executive engineer of the water division responsible for the supply of drinking water to Tiswadi and Ponda, said they tried to provide water with two low-capacity plants at least to the urban area of Ponda Taluka.
“We have taken a flooded pump motorbike and managed to make two older plant pumps with a low capacity by heating it in the factory itself.
Four main pumps from the 55mld factory have been sent to Vasco to warm up.
After immersion, the pump becomes dead and needs to be heated at temperature Certain for a certain period.
They are expected to reach back on Sunday afternoon.

Works Opa has five water treatment plants that collectively supply 165 MLD water to Tiswadi and Talukas Ponda.
While 40 MLD plants are intended especially for Tiswadi and this plant water cannot be transferred to Ponda.
This factory can operate easily because it has a low-risk vertical turbine pump.
Ponda gets water from three remaining plants – 55, 12 and 8 MLD.
Since 55 MLD the factory will operate only after Sunday, efforts to supply water from 12 and 8 MLD to plant, the parsekar explained.
