New Delhi: The recommendation of the expert panel on Covid to increase the gap between the dose of covishield is made based on scientific evidence transparently, the government told Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
There were no differences of opinion submitted by any Members in the National Technical Advisory Group meeting on immunization (NTagi) regarding recommendations, the State Minister for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar said in a written reply.
Responding to questions, pawar said the Covid Working Group of Ntagi recommended a gap extension between the first dose and the two covishield vaccines to 12-16 weeks based on available scientific evidence, especially from global guidelines.
These recommendations have been considered and also recommended by the National Expert Group on vaccine administration for Covid-19 (Negvac).
The Ministry of Health Union and family welfare has received this recommendation for the expansion of the gap between the first dose and the two covishield vaccines to 12-16 weeks.
Responding to other questions about whether the government realized that three of the 14 members Ntagi had said that the body did not have enough data to make such recommendations, said pawar, “the relevant recommendations from the Covid Working Group from Ntagi to increase the gap between the covishield dose have been taken based on evidence Scientific transparently.
There are no differences of opinion submitted by any member in the Ntagi meeting regarding the recommendations.
