The chip Maker Intel has announced that its first big customer for new casting services is Qualcomm.
Intel will begin to make chips for Qualcomm in the future by using the New Intel 20A process which is expected to appear in 2024.
Qualcomm is an established player in providing a chip for smartphones because of the very popular Snapdragon chips series.
But Qualcomm now pays attention to a laptop and finally hopes to take the Apple M series chip for laptops.
Intel hasn’t revealed any detail about what chips will be made for Qualcomm.
So, it’s too early to speculate whether Intel will make Snapdragon chip or will focus entirely on Qualcomm ambitions to become the main chip provider for laptops.
The Intel 20A process that will turn on the future Qualcomm chip will come with two technologies – Ribbonfet and PowerVia.
Ribbonfet is an Intel implementation of the transistor gate-all-around.
Ribbonfet will be the first new transistor architecture of the company after Finfet in 2011.
“This technology provides a faster transistor switching speed while reaching the same drives with several fins in a smaller trace,” Intel said.
On the other hand, PowerVia is an Intel implementation of back power, optimizing signal transmission by eliminating the need for power routes on the front side of the wafer.
“Intel has a long history of the basic process innovation that has encouraged the industry ahead with leaps and limits.
We lead the transition to silicone tense at 90nm, to a high metal gate at 45nm and to Finfet at 22nm.
Intel 20A will be a moment of other rivers in technology Process with two innovative innovations: Ribbonfet and PowerVia, “Dr.
Ann Kelleher, senior vice president and general manager of technology development in Intel in a statement.
