Hyderabad: Between 2017 and 2019, suicide of farmers in Telangana has declined in the most in this country.
Of the 846 farmers dying by suicide in 2017 to 900 took their lives in 2018, the number fell to 491 in 2019, The Center said in replying demand in the agricultural sector at Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
While Madhya Pradesh recorded a decline in the two second farmers’ suicide in this country, agricultural activists and agricultural experts said the Rythu Bandhu Telangana scheme had a major role in the decline in the number of farmers consisting on the country.
GV Ramanjaneyulu from the sustainable agricultural center agrees that Rythu Bandhu has helped farmers to some extent.
“Also, many farmers shift to plants have minimum support prices, especially cotton and rice.
To understand stress in the agricultural sector, it is necessary to consider suicide not only farmers, but also agricultural workers and others who are closely involved with cultivation,” he said.
Telangana began implementing Rythu Bandhu from October 2018.
The first direct benefit (DBT) transfer scheme for farmers in this country was immediately followed by other countries such as West Bengal and Odisha.
In this case, in three years, there were no suicides farmers reported in West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Bihar, Haryana, Uttarakhand and North Eastern countries.
Only a few farmers receive benefits because everything is not covered by institutional credit.
Telangana also has a state-level agricultural debt neglect scheme, but this scheme is carried out for farmers who are owed to rs 25,000 to banks this season.
