Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday is an expert committee of 13 members for the resurrection of MSMEs in the state.
This will be led by N Sundaradevan, a former industrial secretary, the Tamil Nadu government.
The state government has promised to form such a committee “to formulate a scheme for the revival of MSMEs” in the address of the governor submitted to the State Assembly on June 21, 2021.
Statement from the Government said the Committee would include Prof.
M Vijayabhaskar, Part Time Members of the State Development Policy Board; Bindu Anand, a former member of the RBI committee on financial inclusion, finance and securitization of SMEs; N Ballasubramanam, former CMD, Sidbi; Hemalata Annamalai, Co-Founder and Ex-CEO, Ampere Vehicle (e-Vehicle); Israr Ahmed, regional leader, Fieo; Anburajan, President, Tanstia and R Anand, former partners, Ernst and former members of the RBI committee on asset reconstruction companies.
In addition, the Secretary to the Tamil Nadu government for finance, industry and MSMEs and Industrial Commissioners and Chairperson, State Level Banker Committee.
The new committee will constitutionally submit its report to the state government in three months.
MSMEs play an important role in economic development in addition to providing employment and export income.
MSMEs are undergoing a very difficult period because of Covid’s pandemic and also because of various economic factors, the statement said.
The committee will see the challenges faced by the MSME sector in Tamil Nadu and will suggest long-term, medium and long steps needed for the revival of the MSME sector, the statement said.
