Odisha: Crime branch looking for Nod Govt for 25 new cyber police stations

Bhubaneswar: Alert of Spurt in the Cybercrime case, the Crime branch has transferred the government with a proposal to establish 25 new cyber police stations in the state.
Only four cyber police stations, each in Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Route, and Rourkela are currently operating in the state.
“We have sent proposals to the government to establish 25 new cyber police stations.
Because cyberrime is increasing and many people fall prey to cyber fraud, we need a cyber police station in each district to effectively deal with digital violations,” said Director General (Crime Branch) Sanjeeb Panda to Toi.
At least 779 cases of cybercrime have been registered from January 1 to May 31 this year.
Cybercrime’s violations increased by 31% which were worrying in 2020 compared to 2019 when people rely more on online payments and upi transactions.
Some violations are reported after the circulation of fake video / audio clips related to the Covid outbreak on social media.
“We found most cases of fraud related to transactions through net banking, debit / credit cards and upi payments.
Locking has encouraged people to stay indoors and increase their dependence on online banking.
Limitation of displacement of people, fear of viral infections through cash and availability Commodities through online platforms make people vulnerable to cyber fraud, “said a senior police officer.
Police sources say almost all victims found money withdrawn cheating from their accounts after they clicked on phishing and a suspicious letter or a link to the cashback offer.
In some cases victims, which are not fluent in online transactions, sharing their passwords after being cheated by cyber criminals.
The Head Office of the National Police recently asked police personnel to enter the concept of gold clock while investigating virtual world evil.
Police were asked to take advantage of crucial gold hours effectively – the time between evil evil and response after registration of the case.
