Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has decided to attract 90 cases of criminal defamation registered against media organizations by the previous AIDMK government since 2012.
This includes five cases submitted to Indian economic times and one.
In Manifesto for the assembly selection of 2021, the DMK has promised to attract all cases of defamation filed against media homes.
In most cases, complaints for defamation were proposed on behalf of the government through the City Public Prosecutor by issuing government orders (go).
In some cases, ministers or disadvantaged people will begin the process in their personal capacity.
The government cannot attract cases submitted by people in their personal capacity.
However, the case submitted in the name of the country can be withdrawn by publishing a series of GOS which canceled the submission of criminal defamination.
Now, given the order issued by CM M K Stalin, the state government will issue a series of GOS that canceled older Gos.
