New Delhi: Retail inflation for industrial workers rose to 5.57 percent in June, mainly due to the increase in prices of certain food goods.
“The year-of-year inflation for the month reached 5.57 percent compared to 5.24 percent for the previous month and 5.06 percent during the month according to the previous year,” said the Ministry of Manpower.
According to the statement, food inflation reached 5.61 percent of 5.26 percent in May 2021 and 5.49 percent in June 2020.
The CPI-IW All-India (consumer price index for industrial workers) for June 2021 increased by 1.1 Points and stand at 121.7 points.
In a change in a month’s percentage, an increase of 0.91 percent in connection with the previous month, compared with a 0.61 percent increase was recorded between the months according to last year.
The maximum upward pressure in the index currently comes from the food & beverage group which contributes 0.72 percentage points to total changes.
At item levels, rice, fish, poultry / chicken, eggs, vegetable oils, apples, bananas, bridal, carrots, onions, potatoes and tomatoes, among others, see price increases.
Electricity, kerosene, charges of barber / beauty, the cost of doctors / surgeons and gasoline also contributes to the increase in the index.
However, this increase was examined by items such as Arhar Dal, fresh coconut with porridge, mango, pomegranate, watermelon, lemon and acid, which put pressure on the index.
At the middle level, Shillong recorded a maximum increase of 6.2 points, followed by Puducherry and Bhopal with 3.5 points and 3.1 points, respectively.
Among other things, 13 centers of observing an increase between 2 to 2.7 points, 30 centers between 1 to 1.9 points and 32 centers between 0.1 to 0.9 points.
On the other hand, Indore records a maximum decline of 1.1 points.
Among other things, seven centers observed a decline between 0.1 to 0.7 points.
There are no changes in the two centers.
Director General of Labor Labor DPS Negi said, “Increased indexes during June, 2021 in line with all other consumer price indexes compiled and released by various institutions in the country and the increase in food & beverage prices and fuel items responsible for increasing indexes.
“Negi also said the increase in wages would give a few breaks to the working class family who had witnessed a lot of difficulties during the locking period.
CPI-IW is mainly used to regulate the allowance of employee irregularities and government workers in the industrial sector.
It is also used in fixation and revisions of minimum wages in scheduled work, in addition to measuring inflation in retail prices.
