Why this Tokyo Olympic question has some Chinese netizens blaming Siri Apple

It seems that Apple’s voice assistant has become a target of anger from several Chinese social media users.
According to a report by the South Morning China Post, technical errors caused Siri to not be able to respond to a simple question “How many Chinese medals were won at the Tokyo Olympics”.
The report said that users descended to Weibo, the popular Chinese social media platform, and posted screenshots of Siri could not tell them how many medals were won by China.
One image posted revealed that Japan had 11 gold medals, China and the US had 10 medals.
However, Siri could not read the number of Chinese medals.
According to online reports, it was a technical error earlier this week which caused this.
Siri can read the name only one country if two countries have the same number of gold medals, which is the case here with us and China.

But it did not stop complaints against Apple on social media.
The social media platform has complaints such as Apple deliberately ignoring China because of trade tensions between the two countries.

China remains a very important market for Apple and often companies have been accused of having different rules for China compared to the whole world.
China’s ‘Nationalist’ has been anti-apple because Huawei was banned by former US President Donald Trump, which led to trading tensions between the country.
While Huawei remained banned in the US and has hurt the company on a large scale, Apple continues to make billions of Chinese markets.
