Gujarat: Cricketer blind on a daily wage

Ahmedabad: Naresh TUDDA is a member of the Indian Blind Cricket Team who defeated Pakistan to win the World Cup in 2018, but these days the survival depends on his daily innings as a relaxed worker.
Every day, TUDA left his home in Khatamba Village in Vansda Taluka from the Navsari district in the morning to keep in Kadia Naka, The Gathering Point to find casual delivery.
His struggle was played at the time of the nation celebrating Indian sportsmen at the Tokyo Olympics.
TUDA in August last year began selling vegetables in the Jamalpur area Ahmedabad.
But the night hours and workshops charged by the government to control Covid forced him to get out of the business.
TUDDA did not have money to start another business, so marching for daily wages was the only choice.
He is the only member of his family income.
His father must stop working after undergoing cancer surgery.
“I was in 11th place from the Indian cricket team who lifted the Blind World Cup on March 20, 2018, after pursuing a challenging target of 308 set by Pakistan in Sharjah,” TUMDA said.
“Now, I have to lift bricks and sand to run my house.” He said that after the Indian blind cricket team won the World Cup, several ministers and politicians from New Delhi and Gandhinagar had promised work.
It seems they closed his eyes to him.
“Previously, my father used to work as a relaxed worker so I didn’t need to think of a lot of family income,” said Tumda.
“But two years ago, he underwent surgery for oral cancer.
The skin from his hand was grafted into his mouth.
He was told not to do a heavy duty.” TUDDA said he could no longer invest in commodities that were easily damaged like vegetables.
“But even as a relaxed worker, I faced uncertainty,” he said.
“I hope the government’s authority considers my destiny and gives me job or financial assistance.”
