The Tamil Nadu daily number rose slightly to run the third day.

The death of the virus has also seen the uptick this week (not including the old fatality added to the toll last week).
The 540 victim on Friday was the fifth consecutive day when death remained above 500.
Meanwhile, 12,44,696 new Covid cases were recorded in July, a decrease of 45% of the total last month of more than 22.3 lakh.
Compared to May, the peak of the second wave, the number of July fell to only 14%.
However, for the first time since the peak of May, cases added to the highlands and then began to increase marginally in July.
The case count in the last two weeks in July was almost the same as the calculation in the first two weeks of this month.
