Trichy: The cardiology department at the Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital (MGMGH) in Trichy was equipped with Optical Coherency Tomography (OCT) and FRAKSAL FLOW Reserve (FFR) to treat heart patients, said Dean Dr K Vanitha.
A team, led by Dr T Balasubramanian, Dr.
Jaisanankar, Dr.
Ashok, Dr.
Suresh, Dr.
Karthik and Dr.
Maniva, was carried out in four patients and FFR in one patient in the past month.
Dr.
Vanitha said October actually showed us blockages in the coronary artery with the help of intravascular cameras.
FFR will measure blood circulation when the block is on.
Using two procedures, the doctor can decide whether to go as a stent or do a bypass operation.
