Kolkata: Alipore Police Station Introduces E-Malkhana

Kolkata: Alipore Police Station, which has an 115-year-old Malkhana, on Saturday introducing facilities where all the items confiscated will be scanned and digitized.
E-Malkhana- A term created by Police Commissioner Somen Mitra – will ensure that anyone, from the Top Brass Lalbazar to OC from the neighboring police station, can check items for reference.
It’s separate, the Dingy room has been tidied into a modern safe.
“Access will be given to four officers.
They will use a card where they have to enter a PIN and fingerprint will be matched.
Items over a year will be marked in red and recently,” said an officer.
