Washington: The US has blamed Iran for carrying out a deadly drone attack last week on a oil tanker in the North Arabian sea, saying “the right response” will come.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said: “After reviewing the information available, we believe that Iran did this attack, which killed two innocent people, using the UAV that exploded one direction, the ability to turn off was increasingly employing the region .
“There is no justification for this attack, which follows the pattern of attacks and other fighting behaviors.
These actions threaten freedom of navigation through this important water line, international shipments and trade, and the lives of people on the ship involved.
“We work with our partners to consider our next steps and consult with the government within the area and beyond the right response, upcoming.” Zodiac Maritime, a London-based company owned by Israeli Billionaire Eyal ofer, said on July 30 that Mercer Street oil tanker was attacked the day before.
The two death crew members came from Romania and England.
Also on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett blamed Iran for the attack, said his country had evidence of intelligence from the involvement of Tehran and expected the international community to put pressure on the Islamic Republic that “made serious errors”.
So far, no one claims responsibility for the attack.
The Iranian foreign ministry has rejected the allegations, said they were “baseless”.
