TN Govt to provide a quota of 7.5% for government students in professional courses

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday decided to provide a reservation of 7.5% for students of state government schools in professional courses, such as engineering, agriculture, fisheries, animals and laws.
The cabinet led by Minister M K Stalin decided to bring a bill in the upcoming budget session to provide horizontal reservations for students.
This is on the previous AIDMK regime line which imposes laws to provide 7.5% of reservations for government students who are in medical and dental courses.
Because fewer school students get acceptance in professional courses, the DMK government immediately after assuming costs, established a Commission under the leadership of the Persimal Judge Durgesan on June 15 to assess and analyze the reason for improvement to ensure representation of government school students.
