New York: Pfizer Inc., US drug maker who developed Covid-19 vaccine with German partner Biontech, said on Wednesday it would need all US employees and contractors to be vaccinated against Covid-19 or participate in Weekly Covid-19 testing.
Pfizer spokesman Pamela Eisele said the company took the initiative to “protect the health and safety of our colleagues and the community we served.” Employees with medical conditions or objections can be searched for accommodation.
Outside of the United States, Pfizer will strongly encourage employees who can be vaccinated in their country to do so, said Eisele.
At the end of 2020, Pfizer had around 29,400 employees based in the US.
With the case of the US Coronavirus sharply again because the Delta variant is very transmitting, companies such as Alphabet Inc.
and Walt Disney Inc.
have started placing vaccine mandates for their employees.
On Tuesday, 70.1% of US adults have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, according to data from the US center for controlling and prevention of disease.
