Chennai: Ramados Leader PMK on Friday asked the Tamil Nadu Cabinet to meet and provide a resolution to release seven inmates of life in the murder case of Rajiv Gandhi.
The state government must forward it to the Governor of Banwarilal Purohit and nodded in the same thing, he said.
Appointing the commandment of the Supreme Court recently said the state government had strength under the provision of CRPC to free a prisoner after he finished 14 years in prison, Ramadoss said the Apex Court’s decision was very important in connection with the release of seven inmates for a lifetime.
Under Article 161 of the Constitution, the Governor has an unlimited power to make a decision on the state government proposal for forgiveness for prisoners who are punished, he said.
After SC order, the time on the time the government by passing the resolution and insisting of the governor to make a decision will produce favorable results, said Ramadoss.
He stressed that the chairman of Minister M K Stalin and the Country Cabinet must recommend the release of seven inmates of life, who have been in prison for more than three decades.
Ramadoss also remembers SC orders on September 6, 2018 that the governor has the power to release the inmates of life.
Following this, the EPS government cabinet then passed the resolution on September 9 to release seven lifelong prisoners based on the provisions of Article 161 and forward the same for the governor’s nod.
The governor did not make a decision.
Instead, he argues that it is for the president to make decisions about the liberation of live inmates.
