Nashik: A total of 30 of the 155 covid patient samples from the Nashik district have been tested positively for the Delta variant of the virus.
“Samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, for genome sequencing.
The report reached at night, was confirmed about the existence of the Delta variant of the virus in 30 samples,” said the Suraj District Collector Mandhare.
Samples are part of regular practice sending five percent of covid positive patients to NIV-Pune for genome sequencing.
The sample tested was in the last two weeks, said an official said.
“The sample tested positive was mostly from Sinnar Taluka, followed by several patients from Niphad, Nandgaon, Yeola and Chandwad Talukas.
Two samples came from the city of Nashik,” said Dr.
Utkarsh Dudhedia, District Nodal Officer for laboratory testing.
The collector said the sample tested the existence of the Delta variant was only confirmed, and not another strain.
“People should not panic over the situation, but ensure all protection against infections by wearing masks and following the behavior that matches Covid,” he said.
Dr.
Anant Pawar, Nodal officials for emergency operation centers, civil hospitals, said the health team was related to patients who tested the positive Delta variant.
“The main information is that most of these patients are somewhat infected or asymptomatic.
They are in house isolation,” the officer added.
Pawar said the number of very high covid patients throughout the country was tested positively from the Delta variant.
