Kolkata: Kolkata police have issued a warning after several e-SIM card fraud in the city, the latest is a salt entrepreneur who loses Rs 84 lakh.
The police have asked mobile users to be careful before replying to the message to increase the SIM.
When the link is clicked, the phone will be hacked.
The police have also asked residents to be careful when ordering food online after several people lose money to order food from numbers available on social media.
“The two cyber crimes witnessed a surge again so that citizens need to be careful,” said a senior police officer in the detective department.
The police have launched videos on their Facebook page where they share 10 tips to ensure how one can continue trading online and shopping without falling prey to cyber crime.
Fraudsters get your personal information through various techniques, such as shimming, vishing and phishing.
Then they contact your cellular operator, block the existing SIM card, and get a new SIM card.
