New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested six people, including a former spokesman for BJP Ashwini Upadhyay, in connection with the anti-Muslim slogan which was allegedly raised during the protest in Jantar Mantar here, officials said.
The defendant has been identified as Ashwini Upadhyay, Preeth Singh, a Sevak Gadang, Deepak Singh, Deepak Kumar, Vinod Sharma and Vinit Bajpai, said Deputy Police (New Delhi).
They were arrested from various parts of the Delhi-national capital and will be produced before the judge on Tuesday, police said.
Videos that showed anti-Muslim slogans raised during protests in Mantar have been widely circulated on social media, after Delhi police registered a case in connection with this issue on Monday.
“Six people have been arrested after pine registered at the Connaught Place Police Station related to Sloganeering Provocative in a program held near the Bank of Baroda,” Yadav said.
“Upadhyay is an organizer of protests.
He was not given permission to protest.

Hundreds of people have attended protests held by Bharat Jodo Andolan at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
Shipra Srivastava, the media is responsible for Bharat Jodo Aandolan, saying the protest was held under the leadership of Upadhyay.
However, he denied the relationship with those who raised anti-Muslim slogans.
Upadhyay has also distanced itself from the incident to shout anti-Muslim slogans.
