New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested six people, including a former BJP spokesman and Ashwini UPadhyay lawyer, in connection with the communal sloganeering at Mantar on Sunday.
The other caught was Preeth Singh, Deepak Singh, Deepak Kumar, Vinod Sharma and Vinit Bajpai.
More suspects tend to be arrested and Raids are being carried out, said DCP (New Delhi) Deepak Yadav.
Upadhyay, said the source, was arrested because he was a meeting organizer that happened without permission.
The others allegedly caught on videos that raised offensive slogans.
Upadhyay and the others were detained from their home on Tuesday.
They were questioned for more than six hours before being placed under the arrest.
The slogans were raised at an event held to oppose “colonial law”.
Some videos then became viral on social media, after which police received Suo Motu’s awareness and filed fir.
The police have confiscated their cellphones and scan video clips.
They also examined their social media profile because some people denied they were present at the event but had lived on Facebook.
The officers who investigated the case said that Upadhyay, a resident of Ghaziabad, had submitted a request for permission to hold a protest that was rejected but he remained advancing.
“Preeth Singh is the President of the Save India Foundation and lives in Rohini.
Singh claimed that he knew Upadhyay and planned an event on a long time in Delhi-NCR,” said an officer.
“However, Upadhyay denied any association with the Save India Foundation during interrogation.
Both were accused of Nagar Karawal Northeast Delhi.
While Deepak Singh is part of an organization called Hindu Force, Deepak Kumar said he worked as Gadu (cattle).
