New Delhi: PM Modi on Friday said fitness and not age would be a criterion for old vehicle memo.
Private vehicles More than 20 years of vintage and commercial vehicles older than 15 years will be deleted if they do not pass a fitness test.
When launching a national vehicle scrapping policy, Modi said this step will help create wealth from waste, a concept that was followed in developed countries, and called for India to work towards “congestion-free mobility, and comfortable” in the 21st century.
However, many old vehicles in Delhi-NCR will not benefit as their age, and not fitness, have made the criteria for retirement by NGT and the Supreme Court.
The Union Road Transportation Minister, Nitin Gadkari, previously said the center would take legal advice about whether it had to look for a review of NGT and SC orders after the announcement of the policy.
Highlighting the need to protect the environment and reduce the exploitation of natural resources, Modi said, “rare metals are rare.
But who knows even abundant metals will also become rare,” because he added that the impact of climate change is now felt by all.
He said the metal generation intended for making vehicles from a burning vehicle will save a large amount paid for memo imports while showing that re-use is also a way to reduce the exploitation of natural resources.
India imports Memo material worth RS 23,000 Crore last year, said PM.
The Minister of Transportation and Jalan Raya Union, Nitin Gadkari said the launch of a long-awaited policy would increase the supply of raw materials at a low cost for making vehicles because the deleted materials could be reused.
Gadkari said almost one crore vehicle was found without a legitimate fitness certificate and registration certificate.
Union Transport Secretary Giridhar Aramane said pollution concerns could force the court and state administration to ban old vehicles when he was educated for the need to establish more vehicle cutting centers in this country.
Previously, PM also said new policies would promote a circular economy and make the process of economic development more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
“The policy, which is intended to recycle old and inappropriate vehicles, will provide a new identity to the Mobility and Indian automotive sector,” he added.
