Letter: In the first case registered in the city in the Gujarat religious freedom law, the police arrested a 51-year-old man on Friday for allegedly marrying a 22-year-old woman after changing her identity.
Mohammad Akhtar Sheikh, who was accused of developing friendship with women who disguised as Mukesh Mahavir Gupta and Duo were married in 2018.
The couple had the one year old and recently the woman, who sold snacks on Jalan Ring, saw aadhaar card details The husband is on the phone where the real name is mentioned as Sheikh, vegetable vendor.
He approached the Dindoli police station and filed a complaint against her husband who accused him of love jihad.
The defendant has been ordered based on the provisions of Gujarat’s religious freedom and also various parts of the Indian criminal code including lowering the woman for atrocity by a husband, voluntarily causing injuries, intentionally insulting, directing again, criminal violations of trust, and cheating.
In his complaint, the woman alleged that the defendant met him in January 2018 to change the mobile SIM card when he worked as a telecaller with a cellular service provider.
The accusation introduced himself as a mukesh.
The complainant then asked him to help him get some clients again for the portability of the cellphone number, after that Sheikh brought some of his friends to run their numbers too.
They exchanged telephone numbers and Sheikh told him that he was a train employee and unmarried.
They developed friendship and after a few weeks when Sheik suggested to get married, his family agreed too much.
The woman continued to live with her parents after marriage while Sheikh often visited him.
After he saw the picture of his aadhaar card on his cellphone, he asked him about it when Sheikh told him that he had to repent and also adopted the lives of women from their communities.
He was forced to wear a burqa and also followed other rituals.
The complainant also knows that Sheikh is married.
“The defendant was arrested after a complaint.
The woman claimed that she had been tortured since she found out about the religion accused,” a police official said at the Dindoli Police Station.
