Chennai: With the aim of expanding higher education, the state government has proposed 10 new government arts and science colleges this year (2021-22).
In his budget speech, Minister of Finance Palanivel Thiaga Rajar said there were still many marks in the state without government or universities or politteknik assisted by the government.
“Over the next 10 years, the government will expand the reach of higher education to areas that are not served in the state …
10 of the art of government and new science will begin,” Minister said.
Tamil Nadu has a gross registration ratio of 51.4% compared to the national average of 27.1%, and the teacher ratio of students 1:17.

“To further improve the quality, the government will allow more institutions to get NAAC accreditation.
A large number of vacancies, especially teaching staff, will be filled with priority,” Minister said.
He further announced building a learning management system that was integrated with company resource planning software for all higher educational institutions in Tami Nadu.
The minister announced the allocation? 5,369 Crore for the Department of Higher Education, Improvement? 317 Crore compared to the previous year.
