Gurgaon: Thousands of farmers from all states release tractors and march on Sunday to mark the 75th Independence Day.
While farmers from Ambala and Karnal reached the Singhu border and joined the camping protesters there, farmers in Jind and Hisar issued a demonstration at the block and tehsil level.
Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) urged farmers to take a demonstration and mark this independence day as ‘Kisan Mazdoor Azaadi Sangram Diawas’ in an effort to permeat fresh vapor into their movements starting last year.
At SANSA, REWARI, and JIND, farmers took to the streets with tableaues, agricultural machinery and Charchas.
“On the site of the border protest also, farmers organize in Hyatras (parade).
In Haryana and Punjab, calls for Yatra have received extraordinary response and have strengthened the protests and determination of farmers to fight,” said Manjit Thakral, Jai Kisan Member Andolan.
In Jind, more than 20,000 farmers in more than 5,000 tractors take part in the rally on Sunday.
“This year, the independence day is more special for the two main reasons.
First, we celebrate 75 years of freedom and tell the sacrifice and struggle of our freedom fighters.
Second, the agricultural community stands together, stronger than before.
The streets in Jind are flooded with tractors, Many of them were driven by women, “said Virender Singh Sindhu, a member of Starol Khap in Jind.
Rally taken from Rewari peaked at the Shahjahanpur border where farmers camped for several months.
A group of farmers also lined up for about 9 km from the Tankri Rewari to the Shahjahanpur border.
The protesters carry land from their fields and water from their village.
Once they reach Shahjahanpur, they put the land and water in front of the warning built to pay respect for those who lost their lives when taking part in farmer agitation.
