New Delhi: Eight hospitals in the city, including all Institutes of Indian Medicine (AIIMS), will open fire stations in their complex from September 1.
This initiative will help in a faster response for emergency.
Seven Delhi Government Hospitals and AIIMS will provide infrastructure, while fire tenders, equipment and power will be arranged by Delhi Fire Services (DFS).
The average department of firefighters responds more than 20,000 calls a year.
Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS, made announcements on Sunday at an event to celebrate independence day.
Atul Garg, Director, DFS said “again the proud moment for DFS.
The first time in this country, DFS has handened hands with AIIMS to open a small fire station in the hospital for a quick response if an emergency.
AIIMS will become the first hospital In this country to have a fire station on campus.
“Garg said the project was in a pipe after a large fire broke out in the center of AIIMS trauma in 2019.
This is a friendly step, to start with us will have rooms and tenders of fire placed In all hospitals and gradually we will develop this, “he added.
