Bid was invited to liquor license for 12 zones

New Delhi: After a successful liquor store auction in the best-selling city more than Rs 5,300 Crore, the Delhi Government Excise Ministry has floated fresh tenders for 12 zones that failed to draw bidders on previous efforts earlier this month.
On August 13, the Department invited a new offer to provide 12 zone retail licenses for supply of Indian and foreign liquor (except state liquor) in Delhi during 2021-22.
Under the new Delhi government excise policy, national capital has been divided into 32 zones.
Initial offers of retail liquor vends in 20 zones by the Excise Ministry in the first week of August obtained Rs 5,300 Crores, officials said.
However, the 12 zone auction was canceled due to the lack of adequate bidder, they said.
The tender for 32 zones was wrapped in the Excise Ministry in June this year.
In accordance with the tender document, each bidder must pay a non-refundable participation fee of Rs 10 lakh per zone.
Each applicant can bid for a maximum of two zones.
The earnest money deposit for each zone will be RS 30 Crore that can be returned.
The Excise Ministry has estimated to produce around RS 8,800 crores through a license auction of 849 jumping liquor in the city, add officials.
