Bhubaneswar: Jagannath Temple reopened for the residents of the Puri Urban region on Monday.
They have been allowed to pray in the temple until August 20.
After the second Covid wave, the 12th century Temple was closed for worshipers since April 24.
The waiters and members of their family were the first permitted to enter the temple on Thursday and Friday.
“I lacked words to express my feelings to have Darshan Dewa after not allowed to participate in many festivals, including Rath Yatra,” Pradosh Tripathy, said the population of Puri, said.
The temple will be reopened for all worshipers, regardless of residence, from August 23.
The worshipers must show their negative RT-PCR reports obtained 96 hours before their visit or final vaccination certificate for free complexity access to the temple.

The temple will still be closed on all Saturdays and Sundays in the view of the weekend shutdown in Puri.
The worshipers can have Darshan from 7am to 7pm on weekdays.
The temple will also still close on the occasion of a large celebration to avoid the big church.
According to the SOP issued last week, Jagannath’s temple will be closed for worshipers in Janmashtami, which falls on August 30 and also at Ganesh Chaturthi on September 10.
