Dumka: The Deoghar government launched a special project on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day on Sunday to protect the vulnerable children of child labor, harassment, human trafficking, child marriage and other types of crimes by implementing various government schemes for them.
The title ‘Project Panchi’, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said that they decided to launch the project to provide freedom to children from prejudice and discrimination and allow them to grow and realize their own potential in the environment.
He added, “Panchi in English means birds which are symbols of freedom.” As a first step, DC has directed the authority concerned to revive the Village Child Protection Committee (VCPCS).
“August 30 has been repaired as a deadline for activation of all VCPCs in nearly 2,000 income villages in the district,” he said.
He has also directed representatives from various NGOs to establish proper coordination with each other for better results and emphasized the role of civil society to eradicate crimes against children.
“With collective efforts, vulnerable children can be prevented from falling prey to different social threats and helping them enjoy their childhood and succeed in life,” he said.
