New Delhi: The Academic Council of Jawaharlal University Nehru (JNU) on Tuesday approved a proposal to establish a School of Medical Sciences and Multi-Specialization Hospital attached, said the University in a statement.
Medical schools will offer PhD, MD-PHD, MD, MS, DM, MCH and MBBS programs with an emphasis on modern medicine that are integrated with traditional medicines and knowledge systems from humanities and social sciences, the statement is added.
The Academic Council also approved a proposal to include NCC as an elective credit course with theory, practical training and camps spread over six semesters with 24 credits for NCC’s cadet.
“So far, the NCC is an extracurricular activity but now this curriculum will provide all-round education and personality development for NCC’s cadet,” he added.

“This decision resonates with the recommendations and spirit of national education policy.
Some other academic courses in various JNU schools are also approved, including Kannada and Odia language courses,” he said.
In the implementation of national education policies, the Board approved the recommendations of the committee established to be intentional about this issue.
