New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday told the cabinet committee about security that India not only had to protect its citizens but also provide protection to Sikh and Hinduism and help all Afghans who seek help to India.
According to sources, CCS was given a detailed direction of the current and developing political situation in Afghanistan.
Evacuation of Indian Embassy officials and several members of the Indian community, as well as several Indian media members, carried out.
Modi instructed officials to do all the steps needed to ensure safe evacuation from Indian citizens from Afghanistan in the coming days.
Sikh and Hindu minorities who want to come to India must be protected and help expand to citizens of Afghanistan, the prime minister said.
The meeting was attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah and Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Minister of External Affairs Jaisankar is in the US and therefore cannot attend the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials, including the main secretary of PM P K Mishra, NSA Ajit Doval and Cabinet Secretary Rajeev Gauba.
Harsh’s foreign secretary Vardhan Shringla and Ambassador Rudrendra Tandon was also present.
The Tandon Ambassador is in a flight of evacuation from Kabul who landed in Jamnagar on Tuesday.
