Lucknow: The Government of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday changed Private University Act, 2017, which allowed private universities to open the center outside the main campus.
These centers will be operated and maintained as university constituent units.
According to the communique issued by Deputy Minister of the Chair of Dinesh Sharma, who holds an education portfolio, which allows private universities to open campus centers in consentance with new education policies.
Sharma said NEP called for an increase in registration by establishing a higher education institution in each district.
The new off-campus center will meet the expectations of registration as stated in the NEP.

Promoting private investment in higher education, the government has enabled universities that meet government norms (such as additional land) to improve to universities, even if they are not on behalf of the sponsor authority.
Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, Monika S Garg said, “Previously, only institutions on behalf of the Sponsor Authority could submit an upgrade application.
The institutions, which in the name of the College title, must transfer it to the sponsor authority to upgrade to universities involving the hassle Procedural.

“Simplifying the process, institutions that on behalf of universities will also be increased to private universities and their establishments will be in accordance with Private University Act, 2017,” Garg said.
Under other amendments to administration of autonomy, private universities no longer require government approval while framing their first law.
Previously, the law must be approved by the government.
Now, the power of ratifying the first law has been given to the University Executive Board.
