Madurai / Trichy: The number of cases of Covid-19 active in Madurai fell below 200 for the first time after March 24 on Tuesday when it was recorded 194.
This district added 13 new cases recovered from infection.
There was no Covid-19 death recorded for the fifth consecutive day.
As for Trichy, the district recorded 56 cases while active cases fell to 702, from 726 on Monday.
Two deaths again took the overall victims to 989.
A total of 124 fresh Covid-19 cases were recorded in ten southern districts, which was the second lowest in the day since March 25.
Kanyakumari (31) recorded the highest in the region and Tirunelveli 20.
The two deaths were recorded in the region in Dindigul.
The area posted a decline in new cases – to 343 of 365 on Monday.
Six districts in South TN add less than 10 new cases with Virudhunagar (4) added the lowest.
New cases fall in most central districts with Thanjavur continue to be above with 121, which has 1,104 active cases.
The number of active cases in this region also fell to 3,844 from 3,869.
With the death of seven more patients, the victim touched 4,014.
