NEW DELHI: Today, an anti-viral mask which strikes coronavirus.
Even a Pune-based startup in cooperation with Technology Development Board (TDB) of this department of mathematics and engineering has generated a particular type of low-cost 3D-printed mask that’s coated with antibacterial agents called virucides.
The anti bacterial agent in these types of masks strikes the coronavirus when viral contaminants come in touch with it.
The coat was tested and demonstrated to inactivate SARSCoV-2 virus.
The project to create virucidal masks obtained financial aid from TDB in May last year as part of its look for novel answers to battle Covid.
Afterward, an agreement was signed on July 8, 2020 for creating virucidal masks.
Pune-based Thincr Technologies India Private Ltd, which produced such virucidal masks, asserts the masks are somewhat more successful in assessing the spread of Covid-19 than normal N-95, 3-ply and fabric masks since they provide an extra anti-viral protection past the shield offered by filtration mechanics.
Thincr Technologies has applied for a patent for this item, whose business production has begun.
Approximately 6,000 of these masks are distributed by means of an NGO to four government hospitals at Nandurbar and Nashik in Maharashtra and also Bengaluru to be used by healthcare employees.
