A 5-fold increase in domestic leaflets for 2nd wave posts in Igia

New Delhi: Post the second wave of deadly Covid, Indian air travel shows signs of resurrection.
The busiest airport, Igia Delhi, said that it had handled 90,000 passengers every day in the first 10 days of this month – over more than five times from the numbers seen in May 2021, the second round of the peak wave.
The travel segment “visiting family and relatives (VFR)” has become the biggest reason for recovery in airport footsteps, followed by tourists.
Business trips, with several offices are still closed, remain calm, said Delhi International Airport Ltd.
(dial).
“In June 2021, most of them flew in the VFR (48%) category, followed by tourists (25%) and business travelers (19%),” he said.
In the current pandemic situation and an increase in vaccination rates, the dial expects domestic traffic to reach the pre-covid level at the end of March 2023.
And internationally can get there a year later.
Airports and airports in India have taken the steps needed to ensure a safe trip during a focus on increasing cleanliness.
The top 10 domestic destinations for Delhi’s leaflets and June are Mumbai, Patna, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Leh, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Jammu and Kashmir.
In May, the average passenger number of the average Igia was established at 18,000, which rose to 62,000 in June.
“Once the severe impact of the second Covid wave subsed, people felt the need to travel to the house / location of each base.
Thus, the VFR trip has pushed the number of passengers.
In front of a business trip, there is a slight increase in demand (with the opening of a gradual office ) But it’s still very calm.
Recreational trips (tourists) have also taken, by opening tourist destinations throughout the country, “he said.
The domestic air travel scheduled to be allowed to continue after a two-month suspension on May 25, 2020.
“In June 2020, most VFR air travelers were followed by business travelers.
While those who went on vacation only 2%.
During the pre-covid period (in June 2019), around 44% of leaflets are tourists, while 41% of the VFR category, “the dial statement said.
The government allows airlines to add more domestic flights to contribute to growth numbers.
The airline is currently permitted to operate up to 72.5% of their pre-covid domestic schedule.
In July 2021, Delhi Airport handled around 22.9 lakh passengers, which 60% less than 58 lakh was handled in the same month in 2019.
