Nashik: The Civic body has received a very bad response to the auction of firecrackers in 26 locations in Nashik City this year.
Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has planned to auction 322 kiosks, but only 111 kiosks have so far been auctioned.
NMC officials said the pandemic that had been going on for the past half a year was the main reason.
In addition, there are restrictions on firecrackers.
Firecrackers with noise levels above 125 decibels (DB) are prohibited according to the MPCB norm.
NMC has received RS 34.36 lakh as an income through auction 111 stalls – an average of Rs 31,000.
This includes a clean environmental tax of RS 3,000 in each kiosk and 500 fire tax per day for each kiosk.
Previously, civil administration had proposed a ban on firecrackers in the city, but the NMC General Agency had rejected proposals and allowed auctions for firecrackers kiosks.
Thus, NMC is auction.
