Thiruvananthapuram: Pupils of Government LP School, Kilimanoor, directed by their own teachers, have produced a documentary concerning the natural ecosystems within their own locale.
The highlight of this documentary is that its focus is really on a serpent grove in Chevalamadam close Kilimanoor.
The pupils struck about the concept of this the documentary following the overall education department issued an instruction to all colleges to observe the World Environment Day on the internet.
“Throughout the semester, it’s not possible to receive all the students collectively and also to run exceptional programmes.
Therefore, we thought of creating a documentary according to this season’s theme for World Environment Day.
Other teachers, two pupils of this faculty, Asin, also a Class II student and Aamy, also a pre-primary pupil also led in creating the documentary a excellent achievement, ” said MC Abhilash, instructor, and also Harithasena co-ordinator.
The instructors of this School were considering a special learning practice to make the pupils aware of’Ecosystem Restoration’, that was that this year’s topic for the World Environment Day.
The motif reminded them of Chevalamadam village at Pazhayakunnumel panchayat.
“Often within this surroundings day party, we had to plant tree saplings.
However, this time we wanted our kids to experience anything different.
As we came to learn more about the subject, we chose to pick Chevalamadam village which had implemented the notion of ecosystem recovery years ago,” explained Abhilash.
Even the serpent grove from the village, also a mini version of biodiversity, is a treasure house of diverse herbs.

Most importantly, the kids were excited to find that the pure splendor of this grove.
“We had been straight up in our homes for such a long time, therefore I was pleased to head out.
The grove is also home to various organisms, such as birds and butterflies.
Besides little trees, it includes large trees which are generally found in woods.
And at the pond next to this grove we could observe tortoises and fishes also,” explained Asin.
By creating a documentary about the grove, both the instructors and pupils have brought into light the way interestingly the biodiversity was shielded in a little village at an era when these ecosystems face danger from many corners.
In actuality, many activities completed by the faculty reveal its firm commitment to safeguard the environment.
